The Oakland A’s might have some money to spend this winter and they will be looking to add offense. First up the A’s have five free agents of their own to consider bringing back. Only Adam Kennedy is likely to get a bid from the A’s and it would likely be as a utility man despite his solid season for them in 2009. Nomar Garciaparra and Bobby Crosby are both goners for the A’s. The A’s would consider bringing back Justin Duchscherer and/or Brett Tomko if the price is right to give the A’s a needed veteran in the starting rotation. The A’s need a 3B in the worst way and they will probably be talking to Adrian Beltre, Mark DeRosa, Melvin Mora and Troy Glaus. They could also use a backup infielder with Jamey Carroll, Frank Catalanotto and Jerry Hairston being the A’s kind of players. With the A’s having some money to spend it would make sense to also try to upgrade in both 1B and LF. Hank Blalock, Carlos Delgado, Nick Johnson and Adam LaRoche would likely be targets of the A’s if they choose to pursue a 1B. In LF, guys like Jermaine Dye, Bobby Abreu, Johnny Damon and Garret Anderson are likely targets for Billy Beane. The A’s need to spend the cash needed to bring in three impact hitters to revive a punchless offense.
