The A’s have signed 27-year old lefty starter/reliever Travis Blackley to a minor league deal. Blackley has pitched in 8 games (1 start) in AAA-ball so far this season andd he is 0-1 with a 9.56 ERA and a 2.06 WHIP. He last pitched in 2007 in the majors with the Giants. He has pitched in 8 games (all starts) in his major league career and he is 1-3 with a 9.35 ERA and a 2.08 WHIP. Blackley might have a hard time getting back to the show but this was still a good signing for the A’s as you can never have enough lefty pitching stashed in the minors.

When the Mets released Aussie Travis Blackley I thought he may have reached the end of the road. But he’s still going around and so long as he does that he has a chance. I like the idea of him in an Oakland A’s uniform as the colours are quite similar to Australia’s sporting colours. Nicholas R.W. Henning – Australian Baseball Author
