The A’s have acquired 27-year old righty reliever Sandy Rosario from the Red Sox for either a player to be named later or cash considerations. Rosario pitched in 4 games (0 starts) for the Marlins last year and he was 0-0 with a 18.00 ERA and a 2.67 WHIP. He also pitched in 31 games (2 starts) in A+AA+AAA-ball for the Marlins in which he was 0-2 with 17 saves, a 1.99 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. Rosario has now pitched in 10 games (0 starts) in his first three years in the majors and he is 0-0 with a 15.26 ERA and a 3.26 WHIP. The A’s hope a change of scenery is just what the doctor ordered for Rosario. He will get a shot to win a bullpen job for the A’s next spring.

UPDATE: (12/1/2012) - The A’s have designated Sandy Rosario for assignment.

UPDATE II: (12/7/2012) - The A’s dealt 28-year old righty starting pitcher Graham Godfrey to the Red Sox to complete this deal. Godfrey pitched in 5 games (4 starts) for the A’s last year and he was 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP. He pitched in 10 games (8 starts) in his two years with the A’s and he was 1-6 with a 5.09 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP.
