The Oakland A’s have dealt 30-year old lefty reliever Marc Rzepczynski and cash considerations to the Washington Nationals for 21-year old lefty swinging SS/2B Max Schrock. Rzepczynski pitched in 56 games (0 starts) for the A’s this year and he was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP. He gave up 38 hits and 24 walks while whiffing 37 batters in his 36 innings for the A’s this year. Schrock played in 121 games in A-ball for the Nationals this year and he was 167 of 502 (.333 avg, .834 OPS) with 76 runs scored, 9 homers, 68 RBI and 22 stolen bases. Shrock has now played in 167 games in his first two years in the minors and he is 220 of 674 (.326 avg, .826 OPS) with 107 runs scored, 11 homers, 82 RBI and 24 stolen bases. This was a great deal for the rebuilding A’s, as Schrock is a legit prospect.
