The over/under for A’s wins in 2012 is 72.5. The A’s were 74-88 last year, but they have regressed over the winter, while the Rangers & Angels both got stronger. Unless a couple of the A’s young starters step up in 2012, I have a hard time believing that they can win near as many games as they did last year. With that in mind, I would take the under on A’s wins in 2012.

I see the Oakland Athletics having exactly the same problems as they had last season. They are going to have a hard time scoring runs unless Rajai Davis proves he was for real last season, Coco Crisp is healthy enough to play in 145+ games and Kevin Kouzmanoff shows off big time power after getting out of playing half his games at Petco Park. I have a hard time believing in all three of those things for 2010. It also hurts when you have a 1B (Daric Barton) who has the power of a defensive-first shorstop. If Justin Duchscherer and Ben Sheets come back from missing all of 2009 healthy the A’s will have a solid starting rotation. But the guy to watch in the rotation is lefty Brett Anderson who is going to be really good in 2010. The bullpen is loaded from both the right and left sides. Still, the A’s are going to finish in fourth place in the A.L. West and I would take the under on the wins.
