The Golden State Warriors buy out Adonal Foyle’s contract

This was actually a nice gesture by the Warriors as Foyle really didn’t fit into their new style of basketball. Foyle now becomes a free agent and he will likely find a decent job somewhere because he does still have some skills as a defender and rebounder. He played in 48 games (6 starts) last season for the Warriors and he averaged 9.9 minutes, 2.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.0 block per game. He nailed 56.5% of his shots from the floor but most of them were on putbacks and dunks. He was a woeful 44% shooter from the free throw line.

Foyle played 10 seasons for the Warriors covering 641 games (269 starts) and he averaged 19.1 minutes, 4.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. He made 47.7% of his shots from the floor and 50.1% of his free throws in his NBA career so far.

The Golden State Warriors re-sign small forward Matt Barnes

The Warriors re-signed forward Matt Barnes on Sunday to a 1 year, $3 million dollar contract. Barnes had the best season of his NBA career last year. He played in 76 games (23 starts) and he averaged 23.9 minutes, 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He shot 43.8% from the floor, 36.6% from three point range and 73.2% from from the free throw line last season.Â

Look for Barnes to improve his career numbers now that he’s getting consistent minutes. Barnes has now played in 213 games (46 starts) and he averaged 18.2 minutes, 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He has made 44.5% of his shots from the floor, 34.1% from the three point line and 69.2% from the free throw line in his career.

The Golden State Warriors sign Austin Croshere and Kosta Perovic

The Warriors have signed free agent forward Austin Croshere and 2006 2nd round draft pick center Kosta Perovic. Croshere was signed away from the enemy Mavericks. He played in 61 games (2 starts) last season for the Mavericks and he averaged 11.9 minutes, 3.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He didn’t shoot too well as he only hit 35.1% from the floor, 28.6% from three point range and 86.5% from the free throw line.

Croshere has been mostly a bench player over his NBA career and that’s likely what he will do for the Warriors this season. He has played in 601 games (88 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 18.2 minutes, 7.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He has shot 40.7% from the floor, 33.9% from the three point range and 86.2% from the free throw line over his NBA career.
